Resembling a locomotive just leaving the station, Fishing For Fishies’ opening drum rhythm couldn’t be more appropriate as it sounds the bell and takes off on an intercontinental journey through plastic seas and polluted air. The 14th album from the already-music-icons Australian seven-piece takes a trip down south as blues and boogie rock ballads serve as vehicles for environmental observations, prophecies, and introspection on the relationship between birds, their names, and planes. Despite the heaviness of it’s themes, Fishing For Fishies is still a remarkably catchy, ear-worm of an album. Every member of the band are at some of their best. Most notably, the performances by Ambrose on the title track, The Cruel Millennial, as well as This Thing are stellar and demonstrate how just when you think Gizzard have perfected their craft, they manage to outdo themselves.

I am so happy to share these with you guys, this album has a special place in my heart. I hope you love these Fishies as much as I do.
